Report: 80% of Honda's North American Suppliers Are Green Certified

Four in five of Honda's North American suppliers are now certified under the ISO 14001 environmental management standard as part of the automaker's green purchasing program, according to the third annual report on the company's environmental performance in North America — a 20% jump from figures released in July, which indicated that nearly 60% of Honda's total North American supply chain was certified under the third-party standard.

Honda has been promoting ISO 14001 certification for all its suppliers since 2002. The company works with about 600 suppliers in North America alone.

In addition, Honda facilities in Raymond, Ohio, and Gresham, Ore., earned LEED Gold certification this year. The company is working to achieve 2008 Gold certification for two new buildings in Torrance, Calif., and Troy, Ohio.
